After a week with Subaru’s latest CUV I can safely say that the new Ascent is one heck of a deal in base trim. As with other Subaru models the value proposition starts to drop as you climb towards the most expensive Touring trim, but overall the 2019 Ascent is exactly what Subaru fans with families have been looking for. The rear seats are generous, AWD is standard, Subaru has brought back the turbo and it’ll look great parked next to your Outback. The Ascent may not be the best handling in the segment or the most premium, but it delivers a one-two punch to the middle of this segment with high fuel economy and even higher value.
