2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness First Look

If a more rugged Subaru Outback is what you’re looking for, there’s now one right out of the factory. Meet the Outback Wilderness, a lifted turbocharged wagon that aims to give you more capability for those adventures off the beaten path. This rig sports 9.5 inches of ground clearance, 17-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires, skid plates, an upgraded suspension, and standard AWD. Subaru has also given the CVT a different final drive ratio to make it easier for the Outback to climb 40 percent grades. All of the changes will cost you at the pump, though. The Outback Wilderness is less efficient at 22/26 mpg city/highway.

Other changes include the addition of the cool new Geyser Blue exterior color, new bumpers and grille, hexagonal LED front fog lights, an anti-glare hood, and larger body cladding on the wheel arches. Inside you get Subaru’s StarTex leatherette upholstery and Subaru’s latest Starlink infotainment system.
