2023 Maserati GranTurismo Looks Familiar, Feels Very Different: After a long period of time with the outgoing GranTurismo two door coupe and convertible, Maserati has finally lifted the veil on the next generation model which ushers the brand into the EV era. The new GranTurismo retains the car’s classic proportions but has a lower roof line to help “emphasize the curve of the pillar that features the iconic Trident logo.” You can immediately tell you’re looking at the new one by the vertical-oriented headlights and their new LED DRL arrays. Otherwise, Maserati says the decision to keep the GranTurismo looking very close to the old one was a deliberate choice.
There are two outputs for the gas models. The Nettuno 3.0L twin-turbo V6 makes 490 horsepower in the Modena trim (3.9 sec 0-60), while the Trofeo trim’s tune will produce 550 horsepower (3.5 sec 0-60). A rear-biased all-wheel drive system is standard. For the first time, however, Maserati has a full battery-electric vehicle with the GranTurismo Folgore. It is powered by a T-shaped 92.5 kWh battery that works on an 800v charging architecture. Three electric motors (one at the front axle and two at the rear) produce a total system output of 760 horsepower, but there is no front trunk. The 0-60 mph run will take 2.7 seconds according to Maserati, with a top speed of 198 mph.
Though Maserati hasn’t provided any images of the new interior, we can gather a few details from their press release: “In the interior, the Maserati GranTurismo’s modern cabin is equipped with Innovative systems, including the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system, the latest infotainment, a comfort display that brings together the main functions in an integrated touchscreen interface, a digital clock, and the Heads-up Display (available as an option).” A 19-speaker and 3D sound system with an output of up to 1,195 watts will also be available.
Going on sale during the second half of 2023, pricing should be announced closer to the the on-sale date, with details on the new GranCabrio model coming within the year. More on the 2023 Maserati GranTurismo here.
