The 2024 Honda Prologue is the brand’s first new battery electric vehicle since the ill-fated Clarity EV. A crossover that is about the same size as the Chevrolet Blazer EV, has the same Ultium batteries providing juice, and a similar footprint – yes, this is essentially a GM vehicle with a Honda design. That’s because Honda partnered with General Motors to produce the Prologue as well as future affordable electric cars starting in 2027. Between the on-sale date of the Prologue in 2024 and the debut of those affordable models, Honda will begin rolling out its own EVs based on the e:Architecture used in vehicles like the European e.
The Prologue rides on large 21″ wheels, a 121.8″ wheelbase (versus the Passport’s 111 inches), and a slightly smaller overall footprint than its gas-powered sibling. It has excellent proportions and a clean design that is both modern and traditional. It goes the Lexus route with ‘Honda’ spelled out across the tailgate instead of a Honda logo. Inside, the interior looks familiar to existing Hondas but definitely has a more premium feel to it. There’s an 11″ LCD instrument cluster and an 11.3″ infotainment screen, both exceeding what you’ll find in the lineup today.
Honda doesn’t want people to forget about their new EV between now and its 2024 on-sale date, so it is offering an attractive 2-year lease on the all-new 2023 CR-V Hybrid in ZEV states. This is so that once their lease is up, the logical next step will be to transition into the larger all-electric Prologue. We don’t know the numbers, nor do we know any specs (such as whether this will be offered in front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive like the Blazer EV). Stay tuned for more info to emerge in the coming months.
