Hyundai has released the first batch of official photos for the all-new 2024 Hyundai Kona, the second generation of the brand’s subcompact crossover. While details and imagery are limited, we have a good look at the exterior design, which skews much more modern this time around. It is also a lot bigger, growing by six inches in length, over two inches in wheelbase, and almost and inch in width. This is good news, as the current Kona is on the tight side in the back seat, so hopefully most of that growth benefits that space. Hyundai only provided one photo of the interior, a side cut-away view, so feel free to judge based on that angle.
Otherwise, the other big news for the Kona involves the variants that will be available at launch. There will be a standard model, a hybrid, an N-Line, and a new Kona Electric. Apparently, development of this generation started with the Electric, so packaging on the inside should reflect that somewhat. The other powertrains were then adapted to the platform and body. While it is good to see and N-Line return, there is no mention of a hard-core N model. We recently shared that the Kona N (and European i30 N) are living on borrowed time, so unless Hyundai plans on releasing a Kona N later on, it appears this might confirm that report. We will learn more about the second-generation Kona later next year.
