You thought we were done with MINI news for the week? Turns out, due to a leak of images from a photoshoot of the all-new 2024 Cooper, MINI has decided to release a few of those official photos early. So, voilà!
If you follow automotive news and rumors closely, then you might remember photos of this very car leaking way back in 2021 (the car was white, not blue like you see here). The latest leak came at the beginning of the month, leading to this batch of photos. As you can see, while this is definitely a Cooper through and through, there has been a decent effort to modernize the original formula. Take, for example, the flush door handles, the smooth body, the LED lighting front and rear, and the intricate alloy wheel design.
The most drastic change is with the design of the rear hatch. Gone are the pill-shaped taillight housings, replaced by triangular ones that are connected by a thick black bar where Cooper (S) is spelled out. This has to be the biggest visual change the Cooper has received in a long time, as prior generations have stayed true to the original pill look. This one is also apparently the electric model, which is evident by the lack of exhaust outlets and a mostly closed-off front grille. The ICE Cooper will live on as well, but it is anticipated to have a unique design from this electric model. Fun fact, the next Cooper Countryman will only be offered as an electric model and will be built in Germany, marking the first time a MINI hasn’t been built in Britain. The Clubman will not be returning for a third generation.
We don’t have any official photos of the interior, but expect a design very close to what you saw in our post about Spike, MINI’s personified bulldog personal assistant. A large table-style circular touchscreen will be Spike’s dog house, but we don’t know too much more than that. MINI isn’t sharing any details at this time, but look for a full reveal sometime in the coming months.
