Following in the footsteps of the larger AMG EQS 53, Mercedes today unveiled the EQE equivalent in two flavors. There will be an AMG EQE 43 4MATIC+ and a 53 4MATIC+, both with dual motors and both much quicker than the standard version. The electric motors are AMG-specific, and you will actually be able to install over-the-air updates for the battery management system, so longevity may be able to be increased. The 43 is powered by a 90.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with 0-60 happening in roughly 4.2 seconds, while the 53 is upgraded and can do 0-60 in as low as 3.3 seconds if equipped with the AMG Dynamic Plus Package. It appears that this summer will be an electrifying one for Buick. Today the GM marque tweeted a preview of an upcoming concept car that will apparently be revealed this Summer, but no more details were given. The post ties in Dr. Evil who made an appearance in GM’s Super Bowl campaign this past Sunday, saying, “We’re sure a mastermind who makes his own quasi-futuristic clothes will be impressed”. See the tweet here.
Audi’s flagship sedan, the A8, debuted in its current generation back in 2017 in Europe, internationally in 2018. Today the refreshed 2022 (yes, 2022) model for the U.S. was unveiled, an interesting move as they are pretty late into the current model year. Updates include a massaging of the front end design and a reduction in configurations. Only the S8 gets a V8 engine under the hood, and the plug-in hybrid variants have been axed. More details on the changes over at Carbuzz.
The Maserati Levante is getting a little brother. If you weren’t convinced that the new Grecale would closely resemble the brand’s original crossover, today the brand shared images that should give you the hint. Reading “Ciao. I’m the #MaseratiGrecale. I can’t tell you much more”, the production spec is wrapped in a pretty minimal vinyl design that leaves little to the imagination. The taillights remind me of the new Lincoln Zephyr’s in China, the side profile pretty much the exact same shape as the Levante’s just without the third window. The Grecale will be revealed on March 22.
The next model in Hyundai’s IONIQ family will be the 6 sedan, seen her testing in winter conditions. The IONIQ 6 has reportedly had a rocky development story, with various alterations and changes delaying its release. We have been seeing a lot more of its details in recent spy captures, and this batch shows a glimpse of the car’s production headlights and taillights. They continue the pixel theme from the IONIQ 5, so it will be interesting to see how that meshes with the significantly rounder shape of this model. More photos here.
Fisker finally revealed the production version of the Ocean crossover, its first new model since the divorced Karma GS-6/Revero, previously known as Fisker Karma, last year. The model is going into production in November of 2022 and will begin delivery by the beginning of next year. Superseding all of that, however, founder Henrik Fisker took the day after Valentine’s day to open the reservation books for the brand’s next vehicle. Known as the PEAR, it will be built by Magna just like the Ocean, and a pre-order will cost you. More on this here.
