The next-generation global Ford Ranger has been revealed in Raptor form, the most hard-core version there will likely ever be. That is, unless a Raptor R comes along… The current Ranger in the U.S. is the same as the outgoing global model, but we didn’t receive it until well into its current generation. We will be getting the Ranger Raptor you see here, Ford confirmed today, so this is what you can expect the rest of the next Ranger to look like. The all-new Mazda CX-50 is the first of an onslaught of new products coming to the U.S. from the Japanese brand. Following it will be a sleeker version called the CX-70, then a replacement for the CX-9 called CX-90. A 6 sedan will be making a return as well, but whether it comes to the U.S. remains top be seen. Today, Mazda announced pricing for the CX-50, which ends up being a tad more expensive than the CX-5. That model received a second refresh for 2022 and will continue to be sold alongside this car. Audi is partnering with Verizon in the U.S. to deliver the first in-car application of 5G network connectivity. Many cars on the road today offer 4G wireless hotspots, but 5G has yet to make its way into a car due to its limited availability and marginal improvements over 4G…..right now. Over time, 5G’s benefits will present themselves as more applications of its capability will be possible, including low latency communication. The latter will be crucial to the development of autonomous driving technology. Verizon is partnering with all three major cloud data providers to give users access to mobile edge compute services. Audi is shooting for calendar 2024 to start offering the tech.
A car that needs no introduction and receives very minimal updates throughout each of its generations, the Rolls-Royce Phantom will actually be getting a facelift for 2024. The Volkswagen ID.4 is a comfortable and confident electric cars for families, and continues to serve as the best value play in this space. Its second model year (2022) receives a dose of extra range. The single-motor ID.4 Pro’s range estimate increases 20 miles to 280 miles, while the Pro S increases to 268 miles. Dual-motor all-wheel-drive Pro models are expected to hit 251 miles, 245 miles for the Pro S. Then in 2023, ID.4 production will move to the Tennessee plant where the late Passat was assembled.
