Audi has now fully revealed the A6 Avant e-tron concept. Considered a production-minded prototype, this is the station wagon version of the A6 e-tron sedan concept revealed last year. Though Audi wasn’t straightforward when asked if such a model would make it to the U.S., you can bet on the sedan for sure making the trip over. The concept comes with a 100-kWh battery, 435-mile range, and sub-four second 0-60 time. When these go into production, Audi says you will see a lot of the concept design elements come to fruition. Maserati has detailed the future of its portfolio, including the new Folgore electric powertrain that will grace the next GranTurismo. Calling it the “most powerful Maserati ever”, Folgore models will have over 650 horsepower and a 2.5 second 0-60 mph time. Whether or not that fastest Maserati ever title will apply to the GranTurismo Folgore or the MC20 Folgore remains to be seen. The latter is expected to go on sale first. Maserati also provided info on the second-generation Levante crossover and next generation Quattroporte. More on this here.
The Ford Escape (or Kuga, as it is know overseas) is due for a mid-cycle refresh. Today we have new spy shots showing off its new front-end design, which dons the new corporate design theme. Its face clearly adopts the design you see on the new Chinese Fusion/Taurus and Explorer, though no U.S.-spec models have been graced with it just yet. Perhaps the Escape will be the first? More on this development here.
China is Buick’s biggest market by a landslide, which explains why their lineup is a little more fleshed out than ours. Included in that lineup is the Envision Plus, a larger version of the attractive Envision small crossover. Whether it is named the Envision Plus or Envision GX for North America remains to be seen, but reports today claim it will, indeed, be coming here by next year.
There has been some skepticism over whether the second-generation Kia Niro Hybrid/PHEV/EV will make it to the U.S. or not. With Kia’s new EV# family of electric vehicles, there is reason to believe that the tiny Niro no longer has a place here. However, we now know a U.S.-spec Niro is actively being tested in South Korea. The unit caught on camera is a PHEV variant with a black/orange exterior color combo. This should be the sign you were looking for. More on this here.
