The idea of a Porsche three-row SUV has been thrown around and rumored about for years now, but the company is now finally admitting that it’s happening. People said a four-door Porsche would never happen, and now we have three – nothing’s off the table anymore. At the company’s recent Analyst & Investor Conference in Germany, a presentation about the Porsche product pipeline was shared, revealing a to-be-named future Sport Utility Vehicle. The first photo below also shows how Porsche classifies its lineup, with sedans referred to as ‘Sports Limousines’, for example. The new model is positioned above the Cayenne in the SUV column, and the scale of its outline looks be accurate: Porsche’s first three-row will be longer and lower than the Cayenne.
Fun fact, two years ago I (Brian) helped produce Porsche’s 2021 Investor Conference in Atlanta, during which images of this vehicle’s early design were shown. It will be all-electric as denoted in this new presentation, and while they didn’t have a name for it at that time, it’s safe to assume one has been chosen by now. This thing will be massive, low-slung (more Panamera-like than Cayenne-like), and will have a third row. How they package that third row is still a mystery, however. Will they do it Tesla Model S-style, or has Porsche cracked the code on EV platform packaging and created a layout that hasn’t been attempted before? It looks like we’ll know more sooner than originally expected…
