The 2024 Hyundai Sonata Wants You to Notice Sedans

It’s not official until it’s official, but here’s the refreshed Hyundai Sonata that should be coming to the USA later this year. The catfish grill with the cool LED DRLs integrated into the (now missing) chrome whiskers on the hood have all been replaced by a more horizontal and angrier front end. It features the Signature Horizon Lamp found on foreign models like the Staria and Grandeur, as well as the new 2024 Kona that we will be getting later this year.
The rear-end design is fairly similar to the outgoing model, with a new dark finish to the lip spoiler and body section below. The LED lights receive a new checkered pattern for a sporty flair. Interior changes are as dramatic as the front’s, with a redesigned upper dashboard featuring a brand new curved LCD panel with an all-new UI for infotainment duties. The engineers have replaced the push-button shifter with a column-mounted stalk similar to what you’ll find in IONIQ 5 and 6. Like the new Kona, there’s a new steering wheel design featuring the four-dot morse code illuminated Hyundai logo.
At this point, Hyundai has yet to release any specific details for the North American Sonata, with full specs for the international launch to be shared on March 30th. Expect the same drivetrains to be on offer, though there is a strong rumor going around that Hyundai has added AWD to the options list like its sibling, the Kia K5. Expect the base model to either stick with the 2.5L naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine or ditch it altogether in favor of the 1.6L turbo 4-cylinder. The hybrid and N-Line will be returning as well, with the red car in the photos representing the latter.
