It has been an interesting week for large SUVs in the U.S. Toyota’s upcoming Sequoia has taken up two Daily posts already, and now Cadillac is ready to send us into the weekend with a partial reveal of the all-new Escalade-V. What we can gather so far is that it will be powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 also found in the 668-hp CT5-V Blackwing sedan. Expectations are currently hovering around the likelihood of a slightly detuned version of that engine, however. We do not know exact specifications on power output at this time.
My initial thoughts are that Cadillac is going to sell just about every single one of these things, but I actually wish they had done a little more visually to differentiate this from a regular Escalade. It looks really good and will be unbelievably quick for its mass, but doesn’t do enough to denote what’s happening under the hood. Perhaps that was the mission, though – to create a sleeper SUV. You see a ton of incredibly expensive and fast vehicles like this crawling around places like Buckhead in Atlanta, so I have no difficulty believing there is a market for something even more extreme.
More information about the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will be divulged in the Spring.
