Volkswagen ID.Buzz production model

News Desk [January 27th, 2022]

Yesterday was goodbye to Passat, today is a closer look at ID. Buzz

Thanks to VW ID Talk forum, we have a decent new look at the next member of the ID electric family at VW. The ID. Buzz concept previewed an electric reincarnation of the classic Microbus, and now we know that the production version will be unveiled on March 9th. This is the first time we’ve had a good look at the interior, though it wasn’t too difficult to put the pieces together before. All ID models will have very similar interiors, but this is the first time the theme has been applied to a larger package. In fact, this will be one of the largest electric vehicles available yet that isn’t a truck. Take a look.

The first photo is one shared by Volkswagen, the rest were obtained by the forum. There is no third row in this particular unit, as exhibited by the lack of seatbelts in the D pillar and the flat panel for the floor. You can see this platform is held up by legs sitting on what looks to be a subterranean floor. This will likely be a flexible setup that will allow for further cargo maximization potential.

The other detail these photos reveal is a cheery orange and white color combination. Could this just be a standalone palette option, or will the colored interior bits match the van’s exterior color? We have a month and a half until we find out if the ID.Buzz pulls an FJ Cruiser on us. There are rumors of both higher power outputs and longer ranges than the two existing ID models on duty. That and whether the ‘ID.Buzz’ moniker will remain (as opposed to ID.#) will be revealed in early March, so we don’t have too long to wait.

This, in my opinion, is the best predictive rendering of the production model I have seen yet. It will look very close to this. Credit mentioned below.
