Ford shocked the world when it announced that the standard engine on the Ford Maverick would be the Escape’s 2.5L hybrid system. Many predicted it would be an upgrade, but Ford decided to give people the best fuel economy standard. What they didn’t make standard, however, is AWD, as the hybrid powertrain is not available with four-corner traction. While that might not be a dealbreaker for some, let’s see what else Ford left off of the base model and whether that should prompt you to step up to a higher trim. This is the Maverick XL Hybrid for around $21k after destination.
