Acura Integra Type S Spied: The 2023 Acura Integra joined the relatively small list (we count 45 vehicles) of cars sold in the U.S. with a manual transmission option earlier this year, but if these spy shots provide any insight, another manual Integra may be on its way. The long-rumored Integra Type-S, a car most people were pretty comfortable accepting was likely not happening, just might be. The photos below show an Integra with almost complete camouflage covering everything but the exhaust vents, rear diffuser, wheels, red brake calipers, and modified front bumper.
The two things that most strongly hint that this is a Type S are the arrangement of the exhaust and the more serious wheels and brakes. The Honda Civic Type R utilizes the same exhaust layout and also, of course, has performance-oriented wheels. There is no massive wing on this mule, but an Integra Type S likely wouldn’t be so visually…loud…as a Type R. Considering the Integra rides on the same platform as the Civic, there is no reason why Acura couldn’t make a more mature version of the Type R for itself. They just haven’t outright said that they will…except they did. This leaked product timeline from two years ago revealed the development of a Type S variant of a “new compact sedan”. We now know what that sedan is, so it is only a matter of time. That is, of course, unless plans have changed.
