In 2020 when Lucid launched its first product, the Air sedan, they also teased their second model, the Lucid Gravity. Today we now have new details on that three-row interstellar electric crossover. Here’s what Lucid is claiming so far:
EV range is expected to be better than anything else on the market beside the Lucid Air. Expect 400-500 miles thanks to it being the most aerodynamic SUV in the world. It will have what they are calling a ‘next-generation Glass Cockpit’ (basically a touchscreen-heavy dashboard) with seating for five to seven adults. Hopefully that means a third row that is actually usable. The five-seater will be a two-row ordeal. Like the Air sedan, the trunk of the Gravity will have a clamshell design offering “effortless access and cavernous cargo space”. An “extra-large” frunk with innovative convenience features will further expand storage capacity. The Air’s frunk is the largest in the industry, so this one should be pretty massive. Finally, there will be the ability to tow a sizable amount, though we don’t know how much.
“I’m so thrilled with the results we are seeing with Lucid Gravity, sparing no opportunity to build on everything we learned with Lucid Air to create something that warps the vehicle-class continuum,” said Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President, Design, Lucid Group. “It is both a supercar in disguise and an SUV with flexible passenger and cargo space that seems impossibly big relative to the exterior size of the vehicle. And it does this all with Lucid’s distinctive post-luxury design, inspired by California.” Lucid says the reservation books will open early next year, with the car hopefully hitting the streets in 2024. Pricing will be announced closer to that time.
