MINI is trying something fun and whimsical with its next generation of infotainment software. Where everyone else is going the “Hey, [insert brand name here]” route, MINI is giving its system a personal assistant. Not just any personal assistant, however.
Debuting on the Aceman concept (or, technically, ‘Concept Aceman’) at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show is Spike, the “canine friend of the MINI brand”. Spike is an English Bulldog-inspired character who has actually been part of MINI’s identity since it was reintroduced in 2001, now turned into a digital personality that will serve as the “protagonist” of your driving experience.
“The new Spike mode sets the perfect stage for the digital companion, who is presenting to the public for the first time on the circular OLED central display and dashboard [of Concept Aceman]. MINI will enable comprehensive insights into the digital world of the new model family and Spike’s diverse functions in the further course of 2023.”
The Concept Aceman makes its first public appearance at Auto Shanghai 2023, where we will get to see the company’s vision for the future of electric mobility (yes, this vehicle is expected to eventually make its way to us in some form or another). There will also be an all-electric Cooper model to replace the existing Cooper SE, but details on that model are still scarce.
