The Fiat They Should Have Started With | 2020 Fiat 500x

Ever since returning in 2012, Fiat hasn’t exactly become a major player in the U.S. market. With a lineup of small cars including an oddball tall hatchback, a roadster, and a subcompact SUV, the vehicles to choose from aren’t that many. The 500X recently got a significant refresh that included a new 1.3-liter turbocharged I4 and standard AWD. Should Fiat have started with this powertrain from the get-go instead of saving it for the mid-cycle refresh? Is it too later for the 500X to take a bigger slice of the subcompact crossover sales pie?
