Think of the Ford Explorer Hybrid as the electrified three-row SUV for consumers that need the towing capability. Unlike its chief competitor, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, the Explorer Hybrid retains the V6 engine and has 318 hp combined. However, the hybrid powertrain is only available on the Limited trim, meaning you’ll need to pay up the extra money if you want your big family SUV to tow and still get good fuel economy.
