The Rivian R2 Configuration Site is Now Live

There’s good news if you’re one of many hopeful Rivian R2 buyers who placed an early reservation. The automaker recently opened the configuration website for the new EV, detailing pricing and accessories available for three trims, though only the most expensive Performance model is coming soon.

The $57,990 Performance trim arrives this spring. Early buyers get a limited-time Launch Package, which comes with a unique key fob, a towing package, access to Launch Green paint, and Rivian’s Autonomy+ driver-assistance system.

Performance models come with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system capable of 656 horsepower, 609 pound-feet of torque, and an estimated 330 miles of range. Those specs are good for a 3.6-second 0-60 mph time, and towing reaches 4,400 pounds with the right equipment. The R2 Performance also comes with seven drive modes with settings for snow, rally, soft sand, and more.

The Premium trim arrives later this year with a $53,990 starting price. Its dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain produces 450 horsepower and 537 pound-feet of torque, offering a slightly slower 4.6-second 0-60 mph time. It retains the 330-mile range and 4,400-pound tow rating, but lacks the soft sand and rally drive modes of the Performance. The Premium configuration also lacks built-in Autonomy+, but the system is available for a $2,500 one-time fee. Buyers can also add a $960 towing package, and a spare tire costs $755 extra.

The R2 Standard will be the last to arrive, with a release date sometime in 2027. It starts at $48,490 and can be configured with rear- or all-wheel drive. Rear-drive models have a single electric motor with 350 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque, 345 miles of range, and a 5.9-second 0-60 mph time. The all-wheel drive configuration matches the R2 Premium’s specs, and both Standard models have 4,400 pounds of towing capacity.

While it’s unlikely that placing a reservation now would give you access to an early Performance launch model, it would still be a good idea to get in line if you want an R2 anytime within the next year. There was considerable pent-up demand for the model before Rivian announced the smaller, less expensive SUV, so it’s likely that the waiting list has grown considerably since its reveal.
