About

Back before time started… ok, 2011, Alex decided there were no other video outlets focusing on the things he cared about when it came to car shopping. So he cooked up Alex On Autos. This channel is dedicated to real world shoppers and cars people actually buy.

Sure, Rolls Royce makes beautiful cars. Sure, the McLaren 720s is a hoot and a half to drive, but how many people actually buy one? And more importantly, do those buyers actually care how the car performs in a review? Probably not. You dear reader on the other hand do care about how many bags fit in the Camry vs the Accord vs the Sonata. Just how clunky is that new ZF transmission? Will you save money by buying a new hybrid? Can an EV work for you? What makes a hydrogen car go? What’s the best new car for a family? Do you really need a truck? That and so much more happens here at Alex On Autos.

Alex Dykes – Head Of All Things Auto

Alex hails from the left coast where he combines his love of Silicon Valley technology with his passion for cars on a 12-acre organic “farm.” Farm being a fairly loose description of the random things that happen in the forest. If you want to know more about that, check out The Mountain Garden.

Alex’s car history includes automotive “gems” like a Ford Aerostar, Eagle Vision, Chrysler LHS, Volvo S70, Volvo V70R, Jaguar XJ, Jaguar Super V8, GMC Envoy, Saab 9-7x Aero, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Kia Soul EV, Dodge Durango, Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Tesla Model 3, and a Hyundai Nexo. Oh my.

What drives Alex? Value. Yep, it’s that simple. What car gives you the most stuff for the last cash.

Kristin Barclay

Kristin Barclay – Social Media Editor

Kristin is based in Dallas, TX where she wrangles her two children and three border collies when she’s not busy working. She’s passionate about cars and college football, loves dogs and wants to see the world.

Brian Roskelly

Brian Roskelly – Executive Editor, Automotive Content

Brian is the newest face here at Alex on Autos. Currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, he has been a car nerd since the time he first started forming sentences. If Brian is on the internet,  there’s a good chance he’s consuming automotive content, which is why we are excited to add his perspective to the camera-facing side of the channel, as well as to the upcoming AutoBuyersGuide and EVBuyersGuide sites.

Brian also has over 12 years of video production experience, examples of which can be found on his personal YouTube channel, Vision2020 Films. When he’s not writing or filming reviews with us, you will find him making music, plane spotting, riding roller coasters, and just staying active.

His car ownership history starts with his high school car – a 2013 Scion tC, followed by a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, and now a 2019 Hyundai Veloster N.
