If you’re one of the few that’s sad that the U.S.-spec Passat isn’t the same as its European counterpart, then Volkswagen has something for you in the form of the refreshed 2021 Arteon. Created as a replacement to the old CC, the Arteon came late to the U.S. and a little more than a year after it arrived, the car is now getting a refresh. The swoopy sedan sports a hatchback, making it extremely practical despite being so stylish.
Other than subtle styling tweaks, not much else has changed for the refreshed Volkswagen Arteon. You still get the same 268-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard while AWD is available on lower trims and standard on more expensive ones. European-spec models get a dual-clutch gearbox instead of a torque converter automatic. Elsewhere in the world, the Arteon will get a 316-hp performance-oriented R variant and a wagon. Here in North America, we only get the standard model.
