Call the Mercedes-AMG GLE53 Coupe whatever you want but a “coupe” is not what it is. The trend of swoopy hunchbacked SUVs dubbed as coupes started back when the first-generation BMW X6 arrived. Now, automakers, especially luxury ones, have jumped into the swoopy SUV bandwagon for a slice of the pie. The GLE53 is the latest iteration of Mercedes’ answer to a question no one asked for and it’s a potent mix of power and prestige thanks to every GLE “Coupe” wearing an AMG badge.
