Two powertrain offerings will be available, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 256 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, plus the PHEV with 30 miles of electric-only range. The subcompact Tonale crossover is front-wheel-drive based and will include its own NFT and blockchain technology. Kia announces the 2023 Sportage PHEV for the U.S.

2023 Sportage PHEVKia introduces the first-ever Sportage PHEV, a plug-in hybrid with the same propulsion system as Hyundai’s Tucson PHEV. In an interesting move, it will only be offered in the X-Line theme consisting of a base X-Line and an X-Line Prestige trim that has more kit. In case you aren’t up to speed, X-Line is an off-road inspired trim theme that comes with ever-so-slightly tougher looks and more body cladding. Currently, only the Sorento and Soul offer X-Line trims in the U.S., but the Telluride will be getting it next. If you want usable off-road upgrades to your Kia crossover, the X-Pro trim level is coming as well, just not to the Sportage PHEV.
