The 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe lives an interesting life. The 4 Series Coupe and Convertible were introduced when the last generation 3 Series was introduced for 2012. They served as replacements for the 3 Series Coupe and Convertible. The Gran Coupe came later as the five door sportback version of the two door, which is ultimately still based on the four door 3 Series. The result? A sexier roofline combined with a practical cargo area and a “toothy” grill this time around. This second generation doesn’t stray too far from the formula that garnered the original’s success. It is a 3 Series at the end of the day. While we are only taking a look at the oil-burning options today, an all-electric version called the i4 is also coming very soon. Combining the 4 Series Gran Coupe’s exterior design with electric propulsion and interior themes from the controversial iX, it should be a fantastic Model 3 competitor. Otherwise, the 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe comes in 430i and M440i flavors, the latter being lightning quick like an M3 from a couple of years ago. Let’s take a closer look.
