Whether it was part of the plan all along or due to overwhelming demand, Toyota has finally introduced a manual transmission option for the GR Supra. 2023 models with the BMW-sourced 3.0L twin-turbo 6-cylinder will get the option, as will a new limited-production A91-MT spec. That model is manual-only, while the base 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder will remain 8-speed automatic-only. Only 500 A91-MT versions will be produced. Porsche has debuted a new 911 variant that channels the energy of previous generations by way of plaid seats, a ducktail spoiler, RWD, and a manual transmission. Named the ‘Sport Classic’, it is based on the Turbo S and makes 543 horsepower from that car’s 3.7L twin-turbo flat-6 engine. It is now the most powerful manual-equipped car the company makes, with ceramic brakes, dynamic chassis control, rear-axle steering, and adaptive suspension all standard. Polestar is giving the 2 a moderate update for the 2023 model year. Among the changes are a tweaked exterior, new colors and wheels, and more sustainable materials and production practices. Powertrains are expected to remain the same, so continue to expect a single- and dual-motor option. The on-board heat pump has received an upgrade, however, yielding better cold weather performance and comfort. Read more about the changes here.
