The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has been revealed. Sporting an evolutionary design, it borrows cues from newer Range Rover models. The rear end looks more like the Velar and has its flush door handles (so do the Range Rover and Range Rover Evoque). It has shorter front and rear overhangs for a more balanced and planted appearance, supported by newly-optional 23-inch wheels. There will be three powertrains available at launch. A 3.0L turbo inline 6-cylinder with its 48V mild-hybrid system makes 355 and 395 horsepower, depending on trim. A 3.0L turbo inline 6-cylinder plug-in hybrid puts out 434 horsepower and can drive 48 miles on electricity alone thanks to its 31.8-kWh battery. The range-topping BMW-sourced 4.4L twin-turbo V8 produces 523 horsepower. An all-electric version is coming next year.
The interior is pretty close to a copy-and-paste from the new Range Rover, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There is a floating and curved 13.1-inch center display and 22-way power seats, among other niceties. Prices have gone up significantly for the new Range Rover Sport. A new Meridian audio system, rear wheel steering, off-road adaptive cruise control, and much improved infotainment help bolster the $12,000 increase.
