Ford Introduces New Transit Trail, a Van For the Adventurous

Ford is introducing an adventure-focused Transit full-size van for 2023, and they’re calling it the Transit Trail. It will come directly from the factory with unique features and capabilities for trail-goers, campers, and other outdoorsy-types, as well as easy access to accessory upfitters. It will be available in medium- and high-roof cargo van configurations, as well as an extended-length high-roof model that provides up to 487 cubic feet of cargo space. The exterior is differentiated from regular Transit vans by a Timberline-inspired front end with amber perimeter lights, as well as body cladding and tougher bumpers. Ride height is increased by 3.5 inches and the track widened by 2.75 inches, while 30.5-inch Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse all-terrain tires pair with 16-inch black alloy wheels

Powering the Transit Trail is the brand’s EcoBoost 3.5L twin-turbo V6 producing 310 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. Paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox that directs power to all four wheels, it will also have five selectable modes: Normal, Eco, Mud/Ruts, Tow/Haul, and Slippery. The Transit Trail will also be backed by Ford’s 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. You can grab upfitters directly from Ford’s new ‘Ford Pro’ division. This includes a network of dealers and mobile service vans for end-to-end support. It will start at $65,975 for the standard wheelbase and roof. Pricing for the other two variants will be announced closer to Spring 2023 when deliveries begin.
