Acura Shares Official Photos of 2024 ZDX Testing

Acura’s first serial production electric vehicle, the 2024 ZDX and ZDX Type S, will be officially unveiled in 2023. To get people excited, they have decided to share a few photos of camouflaged prototypes running around. Inspired by the Acura Precision EV concept that debuted at Monterey Car Week last August, the production car was designed at the Acura Design Studio in Southern California. It will ride on General Motors’ BEV3 electric platform, the same one that will underpin Honda’s upcoming Prologue crossover. This platform has graced us with the Chevy Blazer and Equinox EV, as well as the Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Hummer EV, just to name a few.

We do not have any official specs for the regular ZDX or the Type S, but if the Chevy Blazer SS is any indication, the latter could potentially have up to 557 horsepower. That would certainly earn it the rights to the Type S badge, but we will have to wait and see exactly what Acura is cooking up for this model. Acura claims that the “Type S models will continue to put the driver experience first”. As for the standard car, it also remains to be seen whether they decide to go the Blazer route and offer front-, rear- AND all-wheel drive configurations. We will know more in calendar year 2023.
