Today, footage of what seems to be the production 2024 Kia EV9 rolling around in public completely undisguised was shared on Instagram. Thanks to user ‘Ignacionaaal “Collector”’ (@nacional.collector), we can pretty much confirm that the concept was a very close preview of the production model. This will be one of Hyundai Motor Group’s best concept-to-production adaptations since the IONIQ 5, another car that looks far more closely related to the concept car that previewed it than any other debut in recent years.
As you can see from these screen grabs of the clip, the Telluride-sized SUV shares the main design cues from the concept of the same name. This was already evident by the official photos Kia shared last year of a camouflaged production unit, but this footage solidifies it. The oversized Kia Soul silhouette, the clean and sharp front end (sans dotted LED arrays in the space engulfed by the large DRLs), and the dramatic wheel arches all mimic the best attributes of the prototype. The only thing that has changed since those photos were released is the lower front fascia. Is the new design seen here from a GT model or some other special trim? We will have to wait until Kia pulls the curtain later this year. If you’re curious about pricing and specs, those numbers were leaked a few months ago. Head here to to get a better look.
