2019 / 2020 Toyota Sienna | Reliable, But Is It Relevant?

The Toyota Sienna soldiers on with minimal changes for 2019 and 2020 while we wait for a complete redesign expected for the 2021 model year. While we wait for the next gen model, the Sienna is up against tough competition from the inexpensive Grand Caravan (which may be ancient, but it’s also crazy cheap), the Honda Odyssey, the fuel-sipping plug-in hybrid Chrysler Pacifica, the family friendly non-hybrid Pacifica and the minivan with a CUV identity crisis: the Kia Sedona. In this world the Sienna fights back with available AWD, the only minivan in America offering that feature and standard active safety doodads. The eternal question is: is that enough to combat the family friendliness and/or fuel efficiency of the competition?
