Tesla Model Y – Real World Range Test! How Far Will It Really Go?

We put the Tesla Model Y through a real world range test to see just how far it’ll go on a single charge. Let’s get real here: no vehicle regardless of the manufacturer and powertrain it uses will get the manufacturer’s claimed range. That’s just the nature of the beast and we’re here to see just how close Tesla’s newest crossover can go before needing to plug-in. Tesla says that the Model Y Long Range should be able to do 316 miles on a charge so get the hate mail ready because it’s likely that this EV won’t get its stated range despite the level of efficiency of Tesla’s batteries.

Available in standard, long range, and performance flavors, the Tesla Model Y is the latest addition to the brand’s growing lineup. Long range and performance will have a dual-motor setup while the standard range gets only one. It’s also one of the few compact crossovers that’s available with a small third row alongside the Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Mitsubishi Outlander, and Volkswagen Tiguan. Like its siblings, the Model Y is curvy and puts wind-cheating capabilities first, resulting in it looking like a sedan with a raised roofline.
