A new electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class is on the way, and the car’s interior design doesn’t shy away from screens. Mercedes said the EV will offer a “personal retreat engineered around the driver,” but your comfort level with the cabin will depend entirely on how you feel about massive displays.
The electric C-Class will offer two screen setups, including Mercedes’ Superscreen or an available Hyperscreen. Recently released press photography makes it clear the automaker took a maximalist approach, with the display stretching the length of the dash and consuming the vast majority of physical controls. Mercedes noted that the system offers a customizable gauge cluster and control panel with three background options.

While the screens headline the new car’s interior features, Mercedes noted a handful of clever features that might sweeten the deal for skeptical buyers. A new automatic climate control system can heat the cabin twice as fast as gas-powered competitors, and a revised heat pump reduces the energy consumed during that process by half. It also dehumidifies and cools the interior only as much as is absolutely necessary to maintain the set temperature, and Mercedes said it’s designed to help prevent dry eyes.
The new C-Class EV features beefy sound insulation and elastomer suspension mounts that help cut interior noise levels. The electric motors and air conditioning system have also been designed to be as quiet as possible, and the front windows feature noise-insulating laminated safety glass.
Mercedes’ seats have long been near the top of the comfort scale, and the C-Class EV promises to continue that tradition. An optional front seat upgrade offers electro-pneumatic four-way lumbar support, massaging, and ventilation. They also tie into the available Burmester 4D Surround Sound stereo, with additional speakers mounted in the front buckets.
We don’t yet have full details on the new electric C-Class, but Mercedes plans to reveal the car in South Korea on April 20. We’ll bring you more information as soon as it’s available, but in the meantime, let us know what you think about the interior.
